Iseman, a brewery located in Ise City, is the only brewery in the Ise-Shima region, and continues to produce sake that reflects the nature, history, and culture of this area. All of Iseman's sake is produced in the Ise-Shima region, and the brewing process uses the groundwater of the Isuzu River and Miyagawa River.
The flagship brand, "Okagesama," is a sake that symbolizes Ise, originating from gratitude for divine blessings and the "Okage-mairi" pilgrimage of the Edo period. It is characterized by its elegant aroma and clean taste, and the "Junmai Daiginjo Yamada Nishiki" has received high praise at international sake competitions.

The extensive lineup includes Junmai Daiginjo, Junmai Ginjo, and Ginjo sake, as well as seasonal limited editions, plum wine, and yuzu wine, making it appealing to choose according to your preference. "Okagesama Junmai Daiginjo Yamada Nishiki" has received recognition for its quality both domestically and internationally, including winning the "KuraMaster" Gold Award.

Another flagship brand, "Oimidori," is a sake whose name evokes the image of an evergreen tree that has stood for many years. It's a drink to be savored slowly while feeling the history and tranquil atmosphere of Ise.
This traditional sake boasts a history of over 300 years, and its charm lies in its mild umami and gentle flavor. It pairs well with fresh seafood from Ise-Shima and can be enjoyed chilled or warmed.
Located in Oharaimachi, the town leading to the Inner Shrine of Ise Grand Shrine, "Ise Man Naiku-mae Sake Brewery" is a sake brewery that you can easily stop by on your way to the shrine. The brewery is located right behind the storefront, and they carefully brew local sake in small batches while cherishing the climate and culture of Ise. Because the amount of sake produced is limited, it is sold only in the Ise-Shima region. In particular, there are brands that can only be obtained at Naiku-mae Sake Brewery, such as "Okagesama Junmai Daiginjo Yamada Nishiki," so it is definitely worth checking out when you visit Ise.
At the store, you can purchase popular brands such as "Okagesama" and "Roryoku," and you can also sample them on the spot.

Furthermore, in August 2026, the "Ise Man Ise Distillery Direct Sales Store" will open inside the Ise Distillery in front of the Inner Shrine. There, you can sample whiskey and craft gin produced by the Ise Distillery for a fee.
The shop displays life-size photographic panels of pot stills (distillation equipment) and barrels that were actually used for aging.
This is a place where you can enjoy everything from local sake from Ise to distilled spirits, while experiencing the dedication of the producers.

In 2022, the first winery in the Ise-Shima region was established, marking the beginning of a full-fledged local wine culture in Ise. The "Utsukushikuni" series, representative of "Ise-Shima Winery," is a local wine crafted to reflect the climate, terroir, and food culture of Ise-Shima.

"Utsukushikuni Blanc" is a white wine blended with Koshu and Chardonnay grapes. It features a refreshing and elegant aroma, a gentle mouthfeel, and a pleasant acidity, making it a perfect match for the seafood dishes that Ise-Shima is proud of.
"Utsukushikuni Noir" is a red wine made primarily from Merlot grapes grown in Minamiise Town and Tamaki Town. With its rich aroma of red fruits, smooth texture, and just the right amount of tannins, it pairs exceptionally well with Japanese meat dishes such as sukiyaki and yakitori.

"Utsukushikuni Orange," which won the first-ever Double Gold award from Mie Prefecture at the 2026 Sakura Awards, is an orange wine made from fully ripened Delaware grapes. With its vibrant aroma, fruity flavor, and well-balanced acidity and tannins, it pairs well with a wide range of dishes, from Japanese and Western cuisine to Chinese and ethnic food.

The red sparkling wine "Ise-ko (ISE × SECCO)" is also a popular choice. It features fine bubbles from secondary fermentation in the bottle and a fruity, dry taste. The label incorporates a design using the traditional Ise-katagami (Ise paper stencil) technique. As a bottle that embodies the spirit of Ise, it makes a great souvenir.
Ise Utsukushikuni Brewery, located in Oseko, Ise City, uses grapes grown in three locations: Muramatsu-cho, Tamaki-cho, and Minamiise-cho in Ise City, to create wines that reflect the climate and food culture of Ise-Shima. In Muramatsu-cho, which is close to the sea, they cultivate grapes that pair well with seafood dishes by using oyster shells and seaweed in the soil preparation. In Tamaki-cho, they carry on the history of grape cultivation, and in Minamiise-cho, they are working with local producers to grow grapes, each winery striving to bring out the unique characteristics of the land.
The unique local wines produced in this way can be enjoyed at "Osteria Il Mosto," the restaurant on the second floor of the winery, as well as at "Bar Yuniwa" and "Ise-mae Sushi Kankan (inside Taki VISION)." Enjoy them with seasonal ingredients from Ise-Shima and experience the unique climate and food culture of this region more deeply.

When visiting Ise Grand Shrine, one sake you should definitely know about is "Hakutaka."
Shirataka, brewed in the Nada Gogo region of Hyogo Prefecture, has long been known as the sacred sake offered before the gods of Ise Grand Shrine. This tradition continues today, with Shirataka being offered as a dedication to the shrine, and many worshippers savor it while feeling a deep connection to Ise.
Shirataka sake is brewed using Yamada Nishiki rice, a rice variety ideal for sake brewing, and Miyamizu water, and is made using traditional methods that involve meticulous handwork. It is characterized by its rich umami flavor and crisp finish, and pairs exceptionally well with Japanese cuisine.

In Ise, not only are sake breweries producing sake, but unique initiatives are also being undertaken in collaboration with students and the local community. Activities such as growing sake rice locally and working with local breweries on brewing and product development provide an opportunity to learn about Ise's agriculture and sake culture and pass it on to the next generation. Here, we introduce sake produced by Kogakkan University (Kanda Kushimoto-cho, Ise City) and Mie Prefectural Akeno High School (Akeno, Omata-cho, Ise City).

"Mimosusogawa" is a junmai daiginjo sake born from the "Inori no Shinto" project, a collaboration between Meiwa Town, adjacent to Ise City, and students of Kogakkan University. It is brewed by Iseman, a sake brewery in Ise City, using "Kami no Ho" rice grown by the students in Meiwa Town.
"Misogigawa" is another name for the Isuzu River, which flows through the Inner Shrine of Ise Grand Shrine. Knowing the story behind this sake—named after a place associated with Ise, and crafted from locally grown rice by an Ise brewery—makes the experience of savoring it during your travels even more enjoyable. This is a sake to be savored while feeling the connection between the land and people of Ise.

In addition to this, the "Prayer of the Divine City" project also includes "Saio," brewed by Asahi Shuzo in Meiwa Town, allowing you to enjoy the unique characteristics of each brewery's sake, which are made from the same rice.
