Start your pilgrimage to Ise Shrine from Futami! Early morning private visit to Futami Okitama Shrine, famous for its Meoto Iwa (Married Couple Rocks) (September 21st & October 12th)

It is a long-standing custom to perform a purification ritual at Futami before visiting the Ise Grand Shrine. Perform the purification ritual at Futami Okitama Shrine/Hama-sangu Shrine for a refreshing and invigorating visit to the shrine.

Visiting ancient shrines

In recent years, the traditional practice of performing a purification ritual at Futami before visiting Ise Grand Shrine has become popular.
In modern times, the purification ritual doesn't involve entering the sea; instead, it involves visiting Futami Okitama Shrine, which is called "Hama-sangu." Why not complete Hama-sangu and then head to Ise Grand Shrine with a refreshed mind?
This experience, perfect for those who want to properly visit the Ise Grand Shrine, has been produced through a collaboration between Ise City, the Ise City Tourism Association, and JR Tokai Tours. It is exclusively available for purchase through the EX Service member-only website, "EX Travel Reservation."
